Investing in Palladium
Palladium as an investment is much like other precious
metals...
Palladium is an element belonging to the platinum group of
metals, palladium is steel-white in color, except in powder
form, when it appears black. Palladium has a number of
industrial uses, resists tarnishing in air and, if annealed, it is
soft and ductile. Palladium has the lowest density and
melting point of the platinum-group metals (iridium, osmium,
palladium, platinum, rhodium, and ruthenium).
Palladium uses include: automotive catalytic converters, in
the jewelry industry it is alloyed with gold to produce “white
gold”, in dentistry, medical devices, surgical instruments and electrical contacts in electronics.
Demand for palladium comes not only for its industrial uses, but also its growing use in jewelry around
the world. As we live today we need palladium. This is important for the precious metal investor.
A traditional way of investing in palladium is buying bullion coins and bars made of palladium. Available
palladium coins include the Canadian Maple Leaf and the Chinese Panda.
